PANSY - Northumberland & Northeast

The Pansy, a steamship that met its end during a northeast gale, lies in a shallow 3m of water, making it a surprisingly accessible wreck dive. We've found the visibility here can be a bit of a lottery, as you'd expect in the North Sea, but on a good day, the wreck truly comes alive. What's left of the 48.8m vessel is well broken up, scattered across the seabed, but you can still pick out machinery and hull plates, all encrusted with local anemones and barnacles. It's a fantastic spot for photographers looking for interesting textures and for divers who enjoy poking around historical remains without the demands of deeper, more exposed sites. Expect to find plenty of crabs and blennies sheltering in the nooks.
