PEBBLE - Northumberland & Northeast

Pebble isn't a dive you hear much about, and that's precisely why we love it. This isn't a giant liner, it's a small launch, sunk back in '78 after an unfortunate run-in with something unseen. Lying in just 16 metres, it’s a brilliant rummage, especially if you’re into smaller, more intimate wrecks. What you'll find is a 9-metre hull that’s been thoroughly reclaimed by the local critters. It’s broken up enough to offer lots of nooks and crannies for exploration. We’ve seen blennies darting from every crevice, and the anenomes here are always a vibrant splash of colour against the rust. On a good visibility day, when the sun penetrates the surface, the light plays through the gaps in the hull, creating a really atmospheric scene. Our tip: go during slack water, it makes picking through the scattered debris much more enjoyable. It’s an easy dive for anyone comfortable with limited visibility, offering a quiet charm you don't always get at bigger, busier wreck sites.
