PINS WRECK (NIMBLE) - Northumberland & Northeast

The Pins Wreck, or Nimble as she was, lies shallow, just 7 metres down, making her an easy dive right off the Northumberland coast. We love a wreck where you can really get a sense of the vessel, and Nimble delivers. You’ll find her timbers spread across the seabed, the stern section still relatively intact, rising a metre or so. It feels like stepping back in time, imagining the schooner caught in that 1850 storm. Our favourite part is poking around the ribs and hull plates, seeing how the ocean has embraced her. Look for the way light filters through the kelp, making dappled patterns over the dark wood. Crabs are always scuttling in the crevices, and we’ve often spotted smaller fish like blennies and gobies darting between the decaying planks. It’s a gentle exploration, perfect for divers wanting a relaxed dive with a good dose of history. Visibility here can be variable, so we'd suggest picking a calm day with a rising tide for the best chance of clear water.
