SIR GEORGE GREY - Northumberland & Northeast

The SIR GEORGE GREY, a steamer that met its end in 1873 from a boiler burst, lies in the Crosby Channel. At just 3 metres deep, this is a wreck dive for all comers, perfect for an easy potter or for brushing up on navigation skills. You’ll find the remains scattered, a testament to its dramatic sinking, with plates and framework now home to scuttling crabs and plenty of small fish darting through the rusted metal. It’s a shallow, interesting exploration, though visibility can be variable with the tides, so we’d suggest timing your dive for slack water.
