SKERRIES (POSSIBLY) - Northumberland & Northeast

The Skerries, resting at 45 metres, isn't a casual dip, but it's a solid dive for those comfortable with deeper wrecks off Northumberland. She's a steamship, sunk in 1916, and what's left gives you a real sense of her scale. We’ve found the triple-expansion engines quite impressive, standing proud and offering plenty of nooks for the resident wrasse and conger eels. It's not a site for vibrant corals, naturally, but the metalwork has become a dark reef itself, covered in anemones and dead man’s fingers. Best tackled on a slack tide, you'll want to be prepared for the chill, but it’s a rewarding dive for experienced wreck enthusiasts.
