Somali Wreck - Northumberland & Northeast

The Somali Wreck, resting off the Northumberland coast, is a proper northern dive. She’s a large cargo ship, sunk during World War II, and she sits fairly intact, especially the bow section which still has some impressive structure. We find the experience here is less about coral and more about the wreck itself, a testament to history and the rugged North Sea. You'll likely encounter coalfish darting through the holds, plumose anemones waving from every available surface, and often a grumpy-looking wolfish peeking out from a crevice. It’s a dive that rewards good buoyancy and an appreciation for cold water wreck diving, especially when the visibility is on your side.
