STANLEY - Northumberland & Northeast

The Stanley, a barge that went down back in 1908, is a proper slice of local history under the waves. Lying at around 18 metres, it’s a relatively shallow dive, making it accessible for a decent range of experience levels. We’ve found it’s become a home for plenty of those classic UK critters – think squat lobsters tucked into nooks, a few inquisitive wrasse, and sometimes even a conger eel peeking out from deeper within the structure. It’s not a massive wreck, but there’s enough here to poke around, especially the sections where the metalwork has started to really break down, creating interesting hidey-holes for marine life. We'd say it's a good pick for a relaxed dive when you're after something a bit different from the usual reef.
