STELLA MARIS (PROBABLY) - Northumberland & Northeast

The Stella Maris, or what we’re pretty sure is the Stella Maris, offers a proper slice of UK wreck diving history. This steamship, sunk in 1905, sits upright in around 10 meters of water, making it a great option when the weather kicks up or for divers looking for a shallower wreck. You’ll find its two-cylinder compound engine still largely intact, along with a boiler and parts of the hull, providing plenty of nooks for crabs and lobsters to hide. It’s a good spot for a relaxed bimble, letting you take your time examining the structure and the blennies darting between the plates. Visibility can vary, as it always does here, but on a good day, it’s a rewarding dive for anyone keen on exploring a piece of the past without deep-water demands.
