STONEDALE 2 (POSSIBLY) - Northumberland & Northeast

The Stonedale 2, or what we believe to be the Stonedale 2, sits at 39 meters off the Northumberland coast. It’s a barge, likely scuttled by the Mersey Docks & Harbour Board, and while it doesn’t boast tropical colours, it certainly has character. We’ve found the wreck provides a decent home for local critters – think crab scuttling across encrusted metalwork and the occasional inquisitive cod peering out from a dark corner. It’s a dive for those who appreciate the history beneath the waves and the gradual reclamation by the North Sea. Expect an advanced dive due to depth, and definitely one for the drysuit crowd.
