SUNDA - Northumberland & Northeast

The SUNDA, a steamship that ran aground in 1866, now sits in just four metres of water, making it a perfect spot for newer wreck divers or those looking for a relaxed, shallow exploration. What you'll find here is a reasonably spread-out wreck, the timbers and metalwork softened by time and a thick covering of marine growth. Expect to navigate through the remains of the hull, perhaps spotting the resident crabs scuttling amongst the plates, and small shoals of fish darting in and out of the crevices. It’s a gentle introduction to wreck diving, best enjoyed on a calm day when the visibility helps bring the details of this old steamer to life.
