SWALLOW - Northumberland & Northeast

The Swallow, a drifter that went down in a gale around 1967, sits in a manageable 16 metres of water off the Northumberland coast. It’s a good little dive for when you're looking for something accessible and not too deep. The wreck itself is reasonably broken up, but you can still make out the general shape of the vessel, and its structure provides plenty of nooks for local critters. We’ve spotted plenty of inquisitive wrasse darting in and out, and the usual crab and lobster contingent have made it home. It's a solid choice for a casual single dive, particularly if you’re keen on exploring a bit of local maritime history without battling strong currents.
