TALBOT - Northumberland & Northeast

The *Talbot* sits in the shallow waters off Northumberland, a steamship that came to grief in 1912 after tangling with the SS *Kent*. At only a metre deep, this isn't a dive for exploring deep holds, but it’s fantastic for a different kind of exploration. What you get here are the scattered remains of the wreck, a metal skeleton that has really become part of the intertidal zone. We've spent a good hour here, just finning over the ribs and plating, watching the crabs scuttle amongst the rust and seeing small schools of juvenile fish darting in and out. It’s a great spot for newer divers to get a feel for wreck diving without the usual depth and current concerns, or for anyone who enjoys a long, relaxed snorkel with a bit of history beneath them.
