TEES HOPPER NO.3 - Northumberland & Northeast

The Tees Hopper No.3 is a straightforward dive off the Northumberland coast, sitting upright in about 16 metres of water. We often find it a decent second dive of the day when conditions allow. This self-propelled barge, mined in 1940, still holds a lot of its original structure; you can make out the single boiler and the triple expansion engine without much trouble. The wreck has become a home for some hefty lobsters and crabs, and we regularly spot conger eels poking out from the darker corners. It’s a good wreck for those looking for an accessible piece of history without deep penetration.
