TETSUKO - Northumberland & Northeast

The Tetsuko, a fishing vessel that went down in 2004, sits upright and largely intact on a sandy seabed at a flat 8 metres. This makes it a really accessible wreck dive, perfect for newer divers or those looking for a longer bottom time without deep decompression worries. We've found the wheelhouse is still largely there, offering some nice swim-throughs, and the holds often have decent numbers of small cod and wrasse sheltering within. Visibility can be a typical North Sea affair, meaning it’s variable, but on a good day, the light penetration at this depth really brings out the colours of the anemones and soft corals now growing over the hull. It’s a solid wreck for photographers too, especially with wide-angle lenses for the whole vessel, or macro for the resident critters.
