THE LADY MOSTYN - Northumberland & Northeast

The Lady Mostyn, a motor vessel lost to a mine in 1940, offers a different kind of dive in the Northumberland waters. Lying in just 10 meters, it's a great spot for newer wreck divers or those looking for a longer bottom time. The ship is broken, but you can still make out the bow and stern, with plenty of nooks and crannies in the scattered plates for crabs and lobsters to hide. It's not a pristine wreck, but the way the metal has buckled and twisted creates some interesting shapes, and the kelp growing on the structure adds a touch of green to the grey steel. We usually find schools of coalfish hanging above the highest points, and sometimes a curious seal will pop by for a look.
