VICTORY - Northumberland & Northeast

The Victory is a cracking little dive, perfect for those days when the North Sea is playing nice. Sunk in 1913, this old barge sits shallow, just 4 metres down, making it an ideal second dive or a relaxed potter for less experienced divers. We love poking around her scattered remains; you can still make out the general shape of the hull, and there’s always something new to spot among the twisted metal. It’s less about grand scale and more about the details here. The wreck has become a proper haven for local critters. Expect to find scuttling crabs, plump lobsters tucked into crevices, and often, we’ve seen schools of juvenile fish darting between the rusty beams. It feels like a living reef, despite its industrial past. Our top tip? Go on a calm day with good sun, if you can catch one; the ambient light really brings out the greens and browns of the encrusting life. It’s not a deep, dramatic wreck, but it’s full of character and always leaves us smiling.
