VISION - Northumberland & Northeast

We really rate Vision, not just for the wreck itself but for the whole adventure of getting there. It’s a trawler, about 23 meters long, and she ran aground on Lambay Island back in '94. What we love is how she’s sitting: solid on the rocks, listing heavily. It makes for a dramatic profile, even before you get in the water. You’re pretty much guaranteed to see her wheelhouse at water level, which is a great reference point. The stern section is the most intact, and that’s where we often find the biggest lobsters tucked away. The whole wreck has become a fantastic artificial reef, a real magnet for local critters. Expect to see plenty of wrasse darting in and out, and some sizeable pollack often hang around the deeper parts of the hull. It’s an easy dive, especially on a calm day, and suits anyone looking for a relaxed wreck dive with a bit of a story. Our advice? Go at slack water; the current can pick up a bit around the island.
