WAVE - Northumberland & Northeast

Diving the Wave, a smack vessel sunk in 1918 by a submarine in the Northumberland waters, offers a real piece of history. The wreck lies at a manageable depth, making it a good option for those newer to wreck diving or anyone looking for a relaxed exploration. What remains today is a surprisingly intact hull section, now thoroughly colonised by local marine life. We’ve seen plenty of inquisitive wrasse darting in and out of the timbers, along with the occasional lobster tucked away in a shadowy crevice. It’s a site that gives you a genuine sense of connection to the past, without demanding advanced skills or deep deco stops.
