Wreck of Ant - Northumberland & Northeast

The *Ant* wreck, off the Northumberland coast, is one of our favourites for a proper British wreck dive. It’s not about tropical colours here. Instead, you get that satisfying chill in the water and the sheer weight of history. Dropping down, the first thing you notice is the way the light filters through the green water, picking out the skeletal remains of the ship. We love exploring the bow section, still relatively intact, where enormous conger eels peer out from dark crevices. You’ll often find schools of saithe swirling around the mast, which makes for a dramatic silhouette against the surface. It’s a dive for those who appreciate the quiet, reflective nature of exploring a piece of the past, rather than a frantic hunt for rare critters. We always suggest planning your dive around slack water; the currents can pick up here, making penetration tricky. It’s a site that rewards patience and good buoyancy control.
