Wreck of Aty - Northumberland & Northeast

The Aty. This wreck is properly atmospheric, a real dive into history off the Northumberland coast. We love diving it when the conditions are just right, which means a flat calm sea and a decent tide window, because then you get to really appreciate her structure. She’s broken up now, but the stern section is still impressive, especially the propeller and rudder, often draped in dead man's fingers. Expect to spend your dive weaving through twisted metal and exploring the scattered plates. Conger eels are often lurking in the deeper recesses, and the whole wreck is a magnet for cod and pollock. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration, peering into every crevice. We’d suggest this one for divers comfortable with colder water and wreck penetration, because the allure here is in getting right into the bones of her. It’s not a shallow potter, but for those with a bit of experience, it’s a properly rewarding plunge into the past.
