Wreck of Barbara And Margaret - Northumberland & Northeast

The Barbara and Margaret is one of those wrecks that just has character, even on a grey day in the North Sea. We love the way she’s mostly intact, sitting upright, with the bow and stern still well-defined. Dropping down, you’ll often find yourself in a cloud of small baitfish, maybe pollack or coalfish, swirling around the main structure. She’s a fantastic rummage dive. You can poke around the superstructure, peer into the holds, and imagine the cargo she once carried. Look closely for those tiny jewel anemones that cling to the metal, adding splashes of colour. Our favourite spots are around the engine room and the stern section, where crabs and lobsters often tuck themselves away in the nooks and crannies. Visibility here can be hit or miss, typical for the region, so pick your day. Slack water is absolutely key; those Northumberland currents don’t mess around. It’s a great dive for experienced wreck lovers who appreciate a bit of history and don't mind a chillier dip.
