Wreck of Belle Aventure - Northumberland & Northeast

The Belle Aventure, sitting just off Beadnell, isn’t about huge pelagics or technicolour corals. This is proper UK wreck diving, and we absolutely love it. Dropping onto her, you’ll find a fragmented hull spread across the seabed, the stern section often the most intact. It’s an atmospheric dive, the low light filtering through the North Sea plankton, giving everything a muted, ethereal glow. What makes her special for us is the way nature has reclaimed her. Crab claws scrabble over twisted metal, inquisitive lobsters peer from dark nooks, and we’ve often found schooling coalfish swirling around the more upright sections. It’s a photographer's dream on a clear day, capturing that interplay of steel and marine life. We’d suggest timing your dive for slack water, particularly if you want to explore inside what remains of the engine room. It’s a dive for those who appreciate history and the rugged beauty of a cold-water wreck, perfect for experienced divers comfortable with limited visibility and cooler temperatures.
