Wreck of City Of London - Northumberland & Northeast

Diving the *City of London* is a proper North Sea adventure. We love this wreck not just for its history, but for how the ocean has completely reclaimed it. Dropping down onto the bow, you immediately feel that sense of scale, the ship lying broken but still imposing on the seabed. It’s a proper expedition site, best suited for experienced cold-water wreck divers comfortable with potential currents and lower visibility – but the rewards are there. What you'll find is a tangled mass of metal now completely encrusted with anemones and dead man’s fingers. Conger eels peer out from dark crevices, and if you bring a torch, the glint off their eyes is always a thrill. Schools of pollock swirl around the superstructure, darting in and out of the shadows. Our favourite part is navigating the engine room area, where the machinery is still recognisable, though heavily overgrown. It’s a genuinely atmospheric dive, feeling like you’re exploring a forgotten piece of history, rather than just another heap of metal.
