Wreck of Conservative - Northumberland & Northeast

We’re always on the lookout for a wreck that tells a story, and the *Conservative* delivers. This isn’t a deep dive, sitting in about 20 metres, making it approachable for most divers with some wreck experience. What we love about her is how she’s broken up – not just a pile of rubble, but distinct sections that give you proper exploration. You’ll drop down onto the main hull, often finding it draped in kelp, swaying gently with the surge. Our favourite part is navigating through the remaining superstructure, where schools of pollack often swirl around you, their silver scales flashing in the gloom. Look closely in the nooks and crannies; we’ve spotted everything from curious conger eels peeking out to bright orange nudibranchs clinging to the plates. The visibility here can be a bit of a lottery – sometimes it’s 10 metres and a dream, other days it’s closer to five, adding a real atmospheric chill. Best to hit it on a slack tide, otherwise, you'll be working hard against the current. It’s a proper British wreck dive, full of life and character, perfect for those who enjoy a bit of history with their nitrogen.
