Wreck of Dove - Northumberland & Northeast

The Wreck of Dove isn't about tropical colours, it's about history and a real sense of adventure. We love poking around this old steamer, imagining its past. Dropping down onto the bow, you immediately feel the scale of it, with sections of the hull still standing proud, creating dark nooks for conger eels to lurk. Our favourite part is navigating the engine room; it’s surprisingly intact, and light filtering through gaps in the decking above gives it an eerie, cathedral-like feel. Look closely at the metalwork, and you’ll spot dead man’s fingers clinging on, bright orange against the rusted steel. This dive suits those who appreciate cold water wreck diving, who enjoy a challenge and a peek into maritime history rather than a coral garden. Just be mindful of the currents, which can pick up, so check the tides before you plan your trip.
