Wreck of Eidsiva - Northumberland & Northeast

Okay, so let's talk about the Eidsiva. This isn't one of those wrecks that’s going to be plastered all over Instagram, and frankly, we’re fine with that. What you get here is a proper North Sea dive: a deep, chunky wreck that’s been down a long time and feels every bit of it. We love the sense of history you get dropping onto her; it’s like descending into a time capsule, often with visibility that makes the experience even more dramatic, shafts of light cutting through green gloom. She’s broken up in places, but the sheer size of the plates and beams still gives you plenty to explore. Look for the engine room, which is often a highlight, and we’ve found some decent sized cod lurking in the deeper holds. It's not a shallow, sun-drenched reef, so come prepared for the chill and potentially strong currents, especially on a spring tide. But for divers who appreciate the atmospheric pull of a substantial, genuine shipwreck, Eidsiva is a really rewarding dive that we think is well worth the effort. It’s a dive for those who value character over clarity, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
