Wreck of George And Jeany - Northumberland & Northeast

The George And Jeany wreck is one of our favourite Northumberland dives, a proper, broken-up old trawler that feels like a real exploration. It sits fairly shallow, which means decent bottom time and usually good ambient light filtering through the green North Sea water. We often find the visibility here surprisingly decent, especially on an incoming tide, giving you enough scope to appreciate the scale of the wreckage. What we love about this wreck is how much of it is still identifiable, despite the years. You can pick out engine room sections, the stern, and even the prop shaft if you follow the outline. Schools of pollack often hang motionless over the deeper sections, and we've frequently spotted conger eels tucked into the larger compartments. It's a dive that rewards careful navigation and a keen eye for details. It's perfect for divers who appreciate the history of a wreck and enjoy poking around a proper structure rather than just a flat debris field. Definitely one to factor in on a calm day.
