Wreck of Ivrig - Northumberland & Northeast

The Ivrig is a proper North Sea wreck dive, sitting upright and surprisingly intact in around 30 metres. We love how much of her you can still make out – the bow is particularly impressive, rising from the seabed like a dark, angular island. There’s a real sense of history here. We’d suggest focusing on the engine room if you’ve got good bottom time, but even just finning along her decks, picking out winches and railings, is a solid dive. Visibility can be a proper North Sea lottery, but on a good day, when the light penetrates, you’ll find plenty of life sheltering in the wreckage. Ling often lurk in the deeper sections, and we’ve seen some huge edible crabs scuttling over the plates. It’s a great dive for experienced wreck enthusiasts who appreciate the atmospheric challenge of a colder water dive, and for those who enjoy the thrill of exploring a piece of maritime history rather than just observing reef life.
