Wreck of Jamaica - Northumberland & Northeast

Diving the *Jamaica* off Northumberland, you really feel the history. This isn't some pristine, intact vessel; she's well-broken, scattered across the seabed at around 18 metres. We love that you can piece together her story as you navigate the debris field – twisted metal plates, sturdy timbers, and the massive boilers that stand proudest. It's a proper rummage dive, best suited for those who enjoy exploring rather than just cruising past. Visibility can be a mixed bag here; we've had days where it’s a stunning 10 metres, and others where it’s more like three. When it’s good, the light catching the kelp-draped steel is beautiful. Conger eels are the main residents, poking their heads from pipes and beneath plates, and you'll often spot wrasse flitting between the ribs of the hull. We usually find crabs tucked into every crevice. Our tip: go at slack tide, it makes exploring the broken sections much easier, and you can really take your time examining the details of this old steamer.
