Wreck of Jean Gordon - Northumberland & Northeast

We love a wreck that really tells a story, and the *Jean Gordon* does just that. This isn't some scattered debris field; it’s a proper ship, upright and largely intact, a real thrill to explore when the visibility plays ball. Dropping onto her decks, you’re met with a sense of history, a feeling amplified by the cool, green North Sea light filtering through. You can still make out the superstructure, peer into holds, and even spot the massive boilers. Our favourite thing about the *Jean Gordon* is how much life she supports. It’s a riot of colour against the rusted steel. You’ll find plumose anemones blooming like alien flowers on every surface, lobsters peering from crevices, and inquisitive wrasse darting in and out of the hull. We’d suggest diving this one on a slack tide, particularly if you want to properly penetrate the shallower sections and avoid being swept around. It’s an ideal site for experienced wreck divers comfortable with colder water and limited visibility, offering a rewarding dive with plenty to discover. Just remember your drysuit; it’s the North Sea, after all.
