Wreck of Jenetta - Northumberland & Northeast

The Jenetta, for us, is a proper North Sea adventure. Dropping down, you hit the bow first, often a bit of a tumble in the currents here, so get your bearings. She’s a trawler, sank back in '41, and what we love is how intact she still feels, despite the years and the storms. You can poke around the superstructure, peer into the holds, and imagine the decks as they once were. It’s got that ghostly vibe, but it’s far from a dead wreck. We’ve seen some huge lobsters tucked into crevices, their antennae waving like ancient flags. Conger eels are a given here, their heads often peering out from pipes or under plates, not always keen on company. The visibility can be a bit of a lottery, especially after a blow, but on a good day, with a bit of sunlight filtering through, the metal takes on this incredible bruised purple and green hue. It’s a dive for those who appreciate history and don't mind a bit of a challenge; the currents can be lively, and it’s not for the faint-hearted. Bring a good torch to really explore the nooks.
