Wreck of Kitty Clyde - Northumberland & Northeast

The Kitty Clyde is pure history beneath the waves. It’s not a massive wreck, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in character and the sheer number of inhabitants. We love nosing around the engine room, often finding conger eels peering out from gaps, or a squat lobster clinging to an old valve. This is a site for divers who appreciate the story of a wreck as much as the corals that grow on it, and who don’t mind a bit of a current to get there. You’ll typically find the wreck standing proud, offering plenty of nooks and crannies to explore. Look for the resident wolf fish, often tucked into recesses, and watch for shoals of coalfish darting through the superstructure. Our favourite is spotting the colourful nudibranchs, tiny bursts of vibrant colour against the corroded metal, particularly on the deeper sections of the hull. We’d suggest diving this one on a slack tide for the best visibility and a more relaxed exploration, allowing you to really soak in the atmosphere. It’s a proper North Sea experience, moody and packed with life.
