Wreck of Lurcher - Northumberland & Northeast

The *Lurcher* is a proper North Sea wreck, not one for the faint of heart, but utterly brilliant if you’re up for it. Dropping onto her deck in even a moderate current, you immediately feel the history. This isn't some pristine, intact vessel; she’s broken, spread across the seabed, giving you a real sense of the power that brought her down. We love picking through the debris field, imagining what each twisted piece of metal once was. You'll spot plenty of wrasse darting in and out of the plating, and conger eels often peek from darker corners. Our favourite moments here are when the light penetrates just right, illuminating a particular section of the wreck and revealing the vibrant jewel anemones that have colonised every surface. Visibility can be a challenge, so pick your day carefully, ideally on a neap tide with minimal swell. It's a dive that rewards patience and a good torch.
