Wreck of Maria And Elizabeth - Northumberland & Northeast

We love a good wreck dive, especially one with a bit of history, and the *Maria And Elizabeth* delivers on that front. This isn't some perfectly preserved ghost ship; she’s well-broken, scattered across the seabed off the Northumberland coast, but that's precisely her charm. We’d suggest going at slack water, it makes picking through the various sections of machinery, plating, and timber much more enjoyable. You’ll weave around huge boiler sections, their dark openings inviting a quick peek, and propeller shafts that jut out like ancient bones. The real draw here, for us, is how the ocean has repurposed her. The metalwork is completely encrusted with plumose anemones, their white tentacles swaying gently, and dead man’s fingers add splashes of orange and yellow. Ling and wrasse dart between the deeper recesses, and if you take your time, you’ll spot velvet crabs scuttling amongst the debris. It's a dive that rewards patient exploration, perfect for divers who appreciate the way nature reclaims what man leaves behind.
