Wreck of Marigold - Northumberland & Northeast

The Marigold is a proper dive, a deep, historical beast that really tests your mettle. We love how the silty seabed here just swallows the light, making the descent feel like you’re dropping into history itself. It’s not a dive for the faint of heart, or for anyone who struggles with low visibility and cold water, but if you’ve got your drysuit endorsement and a good torch, it’s incredibly rewarding. You’ll find her mostly intact, lying on her port side, giving you a real sense of her scale. Penetration is possible for experienced wreck divers, with the engine room a particular highlight, still full of machinery. Keep an eye out for the resident wolf fish, their grumpy faces peering from behind rusting bulkheads, and the sprawling anemones that have claimed the wreck as their own. We think the best time to dive Marigold is on a slack tide, otherwise, the currents can be quite frisky, making the dive less enjoyable. This is one of our favourites for a reason: it’s a real adventure.
