Wreck of Martha Grace - Northumberland & Northeast

Northumberland wrecks often feel like a well-kept secret, and the Martha Grace is a prime example. We love how the strong North Sea currents, which can be a real factor here, have stripped away much of the superstructure, leaving the ship’s ribs exposed like a skeletal hand reaching up from the seabed. It’s a proper penetration dive for those with the right training, with engine rooms still intact if you know where to look, but even just finning over the main deck offers plenty to see. Look for the resident wolf fish tucked into crevices, their grumpy faces glaring out, and keep an eye out for nudibranchs, especially the lemon peel variety, adding splashes of colour against the rusted metal. We’d suggest diving this one on a slack tide, otherwise, you'll be working hard, but the reward is a truly atmospheric dive into a piece of maritime history, perfectly suited for advanced divers who appreciate a good wreck.
