Wreck of Onward Fisher - Northumberland & Northeast

The Wreck of Onward Fisher isn't a Caribbean postcard, and that’s precisely why we love it. This isn't about tropical fish, but the sheer, rugged character of a proper North Sea wreck. Dropping down, the first thing that hits you is the sheer scale – she’s a big girl, lying broken but still imposing on the seabed. We often find her decks draped in kelp, swaying with the surge, and the light filtering through can be genuinely dramatic, casting long, eerie shadows. Navigation is straightforward enough that you can really take your time exploring. Swim-throughs here are less about tight squeezes and more about meandering through cargo holds and deck structures, where a surprising amount of detail remains. Look closely and you’ll find dead man’s fingers clinging to exposed metalwork, anenomes blooming in sheltered spots, and often, plump lobsters peeking out from beneath plates of steel. Our favourite spot is usually around the stern, where the prop shaft is often visible and the structure provides brilliant shelter for schooling pollack. It’s a dive for those who appreciate history, the resilience of nature, and the unique, often challenging beauty of British diving.
