Wreck of Patriot - Northumberland & Northeast

There’s a raw, elemental thrill to diving the Patriot. It’s not just a wreck, it’s a piece of history resting on the seabed off the Northumberland coast. We love the way the light filters through the green water, illuminating the ghostly silhouette of the ship. You’ll fin over what remains of her decks, noticing how the structure has become a home for the North Sea’s hardy residents. Look closely and you’ll spot plumose anemones clinging to the metalwork, their white tentacles swaying with the gentle surge. We’ve spent hours exploring her, imagining the conditions her crew endured. It’s a dive that rewards patience; the more you slow down, the more you appreciate the subtle beauty of the place. Keep an eye out for curious wrasse darting between the broken plating and the occasional crab scuttling into the shadows. Visibility can be a bit of a lottery, so we’d always suggest checking local reports, but even in murkier conditions, the Patriot holds a powerful atmosphere. It’s a dive for those who appreciate maritime heritage and don't mind a bit of a challenge, definitely not for the faint of heart or anyone expecting tropical blues.
