Wreck of Rose - Northumberland & Northeast

The Wreck of Rose, despite its slightly melancholic name, is a lively dive. We love this site for its character – it’s not just a pile of metal, but a proper structure, still holding its form well enough to navigate through. You’ll find yourself finning past large, intact sections of hull and superstructure, which makes for some great swim-throughs if you're comfortable with overhead environments. Our favourite part has to be the resident wolf fish, often found peeking out from behind a plating, their grumpy faces a real treat to spot. Visibility can be typical for the North Sea, so pick a day with a settled forecast and a neap tide for the best chance of a clear run. When it's good, though, the sunlight filtering through the gaps in the wreck, illuminating the jewel anemones and dead man’s fingers, is a genuinely striking sight. Keep an eye out for conger eels too, they love the darker recesses. This wreck suits divers who appreciate history and don't mind a bit of a current, offering a rewarding exploration every time.
