Wreck of shipwreck possibly the Janet Wignall - Northumberland & Northeast

The wreck often called the *Janet Wignall* off Northumberland is a proper deep dive, a real ghost ship experience. Dropping onto her deck, you’re met with a sense of history, a vessel frozen in time. What we love about this site is the sheer scale and how much of her remains intact; you can still make out the superstructure and the massive prop, usually covered in anemones and dead man's fingers. It’s a dive for those who appreciate the chill of cold water and the thrill of exploration, rather than bright corals. Visibility can be a bit of a lottery, as it often is in the North Sea, but when it clears, the detail is incredible. You'll spend your time investigating the holds, looking for lobsters tucked into shadowy corners, or spotting the odd ling lurking in the gloom. Our top tip: go on a slack tide, the currents here can be powerful, turning a leisurely dive into a workout if you don't time it right. It’s a rewarding dive, challenging but full of character, and a true testament to the North Sea's diving heritage.
