Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 101646 - Northumberland & Northeast

Diving an unnamed wreck always has a certain allure, doesn't it? The mystery of it. This particular wreck, Canmore 101646, off the Northumberland coast, might be unnamed, but it certainly isn't devoid of character. We love the way the North Sea has claimed it, softening the sharp edges of industry with a thick pelt of marine growth. You’ll find the structure heavily encrusted, a patchwork quilt of dead man’s fingers, plumose anemones, and dense colonies of mussels. It’s a proper low-vis dive, often silty, so bring a good torch and be ready to get close to appreciate the details. Our favourite parts are the sections where the hull has collapsed inwards, creating swim-throughs just big enough for a single diver, where you often find velvet swimming crabs scuttling amongst the plates. Ling and conger eels are common residents, poking their heads out from the darker recesses. It’s a dive for those who enjoy exploration over pristine views, a true historical scavenger hunt for experienced wreckies.
