Wreck of William And Sarah - Northumberland & Northeast

The William and Sarah might be cold water diving, but trust us, it’s worth the drysuit effort. We love this wreck for its character, sitting upright and largely intact, a proper ghost ship on the seabed. As you descend, the bow often appears first out of the green gloom, silhouetted against the lighter surface. You can swim through sections of the hold, imagining the cargo it once carried, and we always find something new tucked away in the shadows – a crab scuttling into a crevice, or a conger eel peeking from a pipe. The deck is home to nudibranchs in surprising colours, and the superstructure offers plenty of nooks for small shoals of fish to hide. It’s a dive that rewards careful exploration, perfect for divers who appreciate history and the way the sea reclaims what’s hers. Just pick a day with minimal swell for the best ride out.
