Wreck of Woodburn - Northumberland & Northeast

The Woodburn is a proper North Sea wreck, and we reckon it’s one of the best around here for a proper rummage. She lies broken but still recognisable, with her boilers towering up from the seabed like submerged industrial giants. You can spend a good chunk of a dive exploring the engine room, pushing through schools of poor cod that practically brush your mask as you poke into nooks and crannies. We particularly love the bow section, often home to a grumpy wolf fish or two tucked into the twisted metal, always worth a patient look. This site suits divers who appreciate a bit of history and don't mind the chillier waters; it’s not about bright colours, it’s about atmosphere and the life that makes a home in the steel. The currents can pick up here, so we’d suggest timing your dive for slack water to really make the most of it.
