Tradewind (Wreck) - Ontario Great Lakes
The Tradewind, down at 35 metres, is our kind of wreck dive. It’s got that ghostly Great Lakes vibe, sitting upright on the silty bottom, still very much a ship rather than a debris field. We love how intact the bow section is; you can really picture her steaming across the lake. The wheelhouse is a highlight for us, an eerie silhouette against the gloom, and we always take a moment to peer into the open doorways. Visibility here can swing, but when it’s good, the light penetrating from above creates these incredible shafts through the superstructure. While you won't find tropical fish, the resident burbot and crayfish add their own quiet charm, darting into crevices as you approach. This site is perfect for intermediate divers keen on exploring a genuinely historic wreck, one that offers a real sense of its past life. Just remember your drysuit and good buoyancy control; that 35-metre depth can cool you down quickly.
