Squalo Divers - Cozumel
The team at Squalo Divers just gets it. We’ve dived Cozumel many times, and these guys consistently deliver the kind of attentive, low-stress diving we crave. What we especially like about Squalo is their focus on smaller groups. You don’t feel like you’re on a cattle boat; instead, it’s a more personal experience, whether you’re working through your IDC with them or just doing a few fun dives. They run a top-notch PADI IDC centre, and that commitment to training really translates into their guided dives. Their instructors are sharp, always pointing out the smaller critters – the juvenile drum fish under a ledge, the camouflaged frogfish we’d have swum right past. We’d suggest opting for their early morning trips if you can; the light is often spectacular, piercing through the water column, and you often have sites like Palancar or Colombia Shallows almost to yourselves. The currents in Cozumel can be brisk, which means incredible drift dives, and the Squalo boat captains are excellent at reading the water, ensuring smooth pickups. They make it easy.
