With 190+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue whales, dolphins, humpback whales, manta rays and mobula rays (devil rays) - Roca Partida offers some of Socorro Islands's richest pinnacle diving.
Roca Partida is basically a big rock in the middle of nowhere, which is exactly why it’s so good. This remote pinnacle acts like a giant, underwater billboard, constantly advertising its presence to anything pelagic passing by. We often find ourselves just hanging in the blue, watching dozens of silky sharks circle, sometimes a curious Galápagos shark will cruise by, and during whale season, humpbacks can be heard singing in the distance. It’s not a site for poking around in cracks; it’s about looking out into the blue and seeing what turns up. Expect strong currents here; it’s a dive for experienced deep divers comfortable in exposed conditions.
