Pacific Ocean Sports - California
The team at Pacific Ocean Sports have built something special in California. For divers in the Golden State, or anyone passing through looking for a properly kitted-out operation, these are your people. We’re talking full-service: gear sales, repairs, and a robust course schedule from PADI open water all the way through technical dives. What we really appreciate, though, is their focus on local diving – they’re not just flying you off to some far-flung reef. They dive California, and they do it well. Their local trips are where they truly shine. Think kelp forests swaying like giant underwater trees, sunlight dappling through the canopy, and playful sea lions darting in and out. We’ve had incredible encounters there with everything from giant black sea bass cruising slowly past to tiny nudibranchs clinging to the kelp blades. Conditions can vary, naturally, and sometimes you’ll get a proper Pacific chill, but the sheer volume of life makes it worthwhile. Our favourite is an early morning dive before the crowds hit, particularly if you can catch a calm day; the visibility can be surprisingly good. They’re excellent at matching divers to conditions too, which is a huge plus if you’re new to temperate water diving.
