San Miguel Island - California

Diving San Miguel Island, you’re often met with some serious surge, so be ready for a bit of a workout. It’s an intermediate spot, mostly because of those conditions, not necessarily the depth, which maxes out around 17 meters. We’ve had some cracking dives exploring the kelp forests here, with garibaldi flashing their bright orange, and the occasional grumpy lingcod peering out from a crevice. It’s not always the clearest water, but when it opens up, the sheer number of rockfish can be impressive.
