Looe Key Reef Resort & Dive Center - Florida Keys
The team at Looe Key Reef Resort & Dive Center are our go-to for really getting to grips with the Lower Keys. They’re based right there in Ramrod Key, which means they’re practically on top of Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary. That proximity is key; you’re not spending half your day on a boat getting to the good stuff. We love that they run smaller boats. It makes a huge difference to the experience, less crowded, more personal. On a calm morning, you can feel the boat gently rocking, the sun already warming your face as you motor out to the reef. They hit Looe Key and the Adolphus Busch wreck daily, which are genuinely excellent dives. We’d suggest getting on their first boat out to Looe Key if you can; the light is often best, and you might have the reef to yourselves before the bigger crowds arrive. Look for the massive schools of grunts schooling under ledges, and we’ve often spotted eagle rays cruising the deeper edges. If you’re looking to get certified, or even push for instructor, their small group focus makes them a solid choice.
