New Barge - Hawaii

The New Barge feels like a proper underwater history lesson, a 28-metre deep dive into a past life. This isn't one of those wrecks stripped bare; it’s got that beautifully rusted, lived-in feel, attracting all sorts. We love the way schooling snapper hold formation around the structure, shimmering like a silver curtain when the light hits just right. It's an intermediate dive, straightforward enough that you can spend your bottom time poking into its nooks and crannies without feeling rushed. Look out for the resident moray eels peeking from beneath plates of steel, and we've often spotted white-tip reef sharks cruising lazily past the bow. Our favourite part has to be finning through the open cargo hold, the slight shift in temperature as you enter, and the way the light filters down, creating these ethereal shafts. It's a great spot for photographers, especially if you catch it on a sunny day. We'd suggest getting there earlier to avoid any crowds.
